Pit Bull + Baby = Lots of Freaked Out People

Our dog Precious is great. People often ask if we are going to get rid of the dog when the baby arrives. I can understand why people are so fearful. What if the dog gets jealous? What if the dog accidentally hurts the baby? While anything is possible we are confident that we can keep her.
She is calm and docile especially around children and babies. We do have to be careful since she is strong and has nails and teeth (but so do I). The vet even told us to never leave the dog and baby unattended. Duh!

We know we will have to pay very close attention and correct her when she is out of line. Things like the baby's toys may become an issue but we have to be assertive and draw the boundaries for the dog. Its also very important we don't let the dog become dominant.

Every time someone asks me if we are going to get rid of the dog because we are having a baby, I just want to ask them, would you get rid of a child that has been living with you for almost 9 years? I don't think so. It's so frustrating because people know precious and know how calm she is but still doubt her because she is a pit bull. I trust her and trust her around our child:)
